日本大学芸術学部在学中に群馬交響楽団公演にソリストとして出演。卒業後、'93渡米、バークリー音楽大学入学。サクソフォンを武藤賢一郎氏、ジョージ・ガゾーン氏に師事。 帰国後、財団法人静岡県舞台芸術センター(SPAC)での音楽プロデュース、アーチストJoiのレコーディングや全国ツアー参加、master mind/H.Garden、Bayaka、Playa等の作品やライブに参加。 2005年自らのバンド、Soul Watt!を結成しＣＤデビュー。 バンド解散後、MISIA、スネオヘアー、girls on the run、円谷映画のサウンドトラック、ジャニーズ・アーチストへの作品提供、タップダンサーHIDEBOHとデュエット共演、半野喜弘氏プロディースによるUA作品、ジブリ映画のジャズアレンジでブレイク中のAll That Jazz作品等、多くのレコーディングやライブに参加。 宮崎隆睦氏、神保彰氏、中川英二郎氏、桜井哲夫氏、則武裕之氏、天野清継氏、庄野真代氏、入山アキ子氏らと共演。 2009年コンピレーションアルバム「Inner Reserves~ meet BS11」、2010年その第二段「Inner Reserves~ meet Burt Bacharach 」に参加。JazzコンペティションEarth Mix2009準グランプリを受賞後、2010年アルバム「cafe sweets collection EARTH MIX 」において作品をリリース。2010年公開の映画「手のひらの幸せ」のサウンドトラックにもオリジナル作品を提供している。 演奏の基礎にジャズを置くものの、形にとらわれることなく、そこにある音楽の求めに従ってインプロビゼーションを展開してゆく、そんなタイプのサックス・プレーヤーだ。また、近年では意欲的にオリジナル作品の制作に尽力している。
Bio: Shintaro Kurihara/ 栗原晋太郎 (Sax/Flute/Sound Production) Shintaro Kurihara
entered Berklee College of Music in the US after graduation from Nihon University College of Art in Japan. He studied Saxophone under Mr.Ken-ichiro Muto, Mr.Fred Ripshas (ex.Blood,Sweat&Tears) , and Mr.George Gazorn. After returning home, he produced music at Shizuoka Performing Arts Center (SPAC), participated in Joi's recording and national tour, and joined live performances of musicians such as Master mind/ H.Garden, Bayaka, and Playa, etc. In 2005 he put together his own band called "Soul Watt!!" and made his debut producing his first CD. After the breaking up of his own band, he has been involved in many recordings and live performances, including offering music for MISIA, Suneo hair, Girls on the run, Tsuburaya movie, and Johnny's stars and co-starring with HIDEBOH with THE STRIPES, a tap dance team. Having jazz as basis of his music, he can flexibly improvise to capture the requirekents of each piece of music. develops improvisation by catching the requirement each music has. In recent years, he has devoted himself to producing original works.
